Students study many styles to help develop their skills in a variety of dance forms: Contemporary, Classical Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical Jazz, Tap, Cultural and Hip Hop.

The Dance Department employs professional dancers/qualified secondary dance teachers who have a wealth of experience and reputation in the entertainment industry. Their combined expertise and knowledge aims to develop intelligent, knowledgeable, skilled and artistic performers who are versatile in many dance genres. The dance students work on technique, look at different dance styles and choreographers and create their own works in class.

Dance may be taken as a 2 Unit subject for the Higher School Certificate. This study includes performance, composition and dance appreciation.

Students may also audition for the school “CHCCS Dance Ensemble”. This group rehearse weekly during lunch and at times after school and are showcased at many events and productions during the year. The Dance Ensemble offers extension in Contemporary, Jazz, Cultural and Hip Hop.
