About English
What is this subject about?
English is designed to consolidate and develop students’ literacy skills in order to enhance their personal, social, educational and vocational lives. Students learn to be effective, creative and confident communicators. The Advanced and Extension courses provide more challenging texts and tasks for students who have the interest and ability to pursue a more complex and academically rigorous program of study.
Subject Topics
Students read, view and listen to a wide range of texts including: prose fiction, poetry, drama, film, Shakespeare, etc
Extra
English is mandatory in both Year 11 and Year 12.
English Advanced: This course is recommended for students who achieve an A grade in Year 10.
English Extension 1: This course is recommended for students who demonstrate extensive knowledge of the course content. Students are required to sit an entrance examination in Year 10 to qualify for this course. The Principal will determine whether the course runs based on student numbers.
