About Mathematics Standard
What is this subject about?
The Mathematics Standard course is a non-calculus-based course that focuses on mathematical skills and techniques that have direct application to everyday life such as finance, measurement and data analysis.
In Year 12, students will study the Mathematics Standard 2 course and sit for an HSC examination.
Subject Topics
Mathematics Standard Course: Algebra, Measurement, Financial Mathematics, Statistical Analysis and Networks.
Prerequisite for studying Mathematics Standard
This course is constructed on the assumption that students have satisfactorily achieved the outcomes of Stage 5 particularly the topics of Algebra, Trigonometry and Statistics. Some 5.3 level students would also be suited to the following this pathway and studying for the HSC Mathematics Standard 2 course.
Exclusions
Students may not study the Mathematics Standard Course in conjunction with the Mathematics Advanced course.
