What is this subject about?

Business Studies is a subject which provides students with knowledge of, and experience in, the functions of business. Students will gain an understanding of various leadership and management perspectives and gain insight into the role of business in society. Contemporary business issues and case studies are embedded in the course to provide a stimulating and relevant framework for students to analyse problems encountered in the business environment. We look at questions like: how did Coca Cola use marketing to create Santa? What happened when Steve Jobs lost his job at Apple? What does real leadership look like? We also engage students in many team-building exercises within the classroom.

Subject Topics

Topics include: Nature of business, Business management, Business planning, Marketing, Finance and Human resources.
Extra
Business Studies is a dynamic subject which encompasses critical thinking, training in leadership and team building skills. Students are required to write a Business Plan as part of the Preliminary course.
