About Mathematics Advanced
What is this subject about?
The Mathematics Advanced course is a calculus-based course that is more abstract in nature than Mathematics Standard.
The course is focused on developing student awareness of mathematics as a unique and powerful way of viewing the world to investigate order, relation, pattern, uncertainty and generality. A high level of competence in all aspects of algebra should already have been demonstrated.
Subject Topics
Mathematics Advanced: Functions, Trigonometric Functions, Calculus, Exponential and Logarithmic Functions, Financial Mathematics and Statistical Analysis.
Prerequisite for studying Mathematics Advanced
Students need to have achieved a Grade A or a high Grade B in the Year 10 Advanced Mathematics course (Stage 5.1, 5.2 & 5.3).
Exclusions
Students may not study the Mathematics Advanced Course in conjunction with the Mathematics Standard course.
