About Mathematics Extension 1
What is this subject about?
Mathematics Extension 1 is focused on enabling students to develop a thorough understanding of, and competence in, further aspects of mathematics.
The course provides opportunities to develop rigorous mathematical arguments and proofs, and to use mathematical models more extensively. Students of Mathematics Extension 1 will be able to develop an appreciation of the interconnected nature of mathematics, its beauty and its functionality.
Subject Topics
Mathematics Extension 1 Course: Functions, Trigonometric Functions, Calculus, Combinatorics, Proof, Vectors and Statistical Analysis.
Prerequisite for studying Mathematics Extension 1
Students need to have achieved a Grade A in the Year 10 Advanced Mathematics course (Stage 5.1, 5.2 & 5.3).
Students studying the year 11 Mathematics Extension 1 course must also complete the year 11 Mathematics Advanced course.
Exclusions
Students may not study the Mathematics Extension 1 Course in conjunction with the Mathematics Standard course.
